The owner of a 2013 Dodge Dart contacted the Dallas Police Department to report that her vehicle was stolen. The owner parked her Dodge in her apartment parking lot. When she got out of her Dodge she was approached by two suspects, who pointed a handgun at her and demanded her car keys. The owner complied and the suspects jumped into her Dodge and as they were backing up struck the owner, knocking her to the ground. The suspects then drove off. The owner sustained some minor injuries.

The Dallas PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Dodge Dart.

Thirty eight minutes later, officers from the Dallas PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Dodge Dart with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the stolen Dodge Dart to the 700 block of Odeneal St, where they found it abandoned. The rear license plate was covered with a paper dealer tag. This Dodge was recovered in good condition. This is an ongoing investigation.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Ranger in October 2013 at Love Field Chrysler in Dallas, Texas.
