The owner of a 2009 Honda Accord contacted the Chicago Police Department to report that someone had stolen their vehicle from in front of their residence in the 1500 block of West Ardmore Ave in Chicago’s West Edgewater neighborhood. The Chicago PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Shortly after the Honda Accord was activated, the Chicago PD squad cars from Chicago’s Lincoln District equipped with LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) picked up the silent and directional signal being broadcast from the stolen Honda. The Chicago PD units following the LoJack signal located the stolen Honda on the 5700 block of North Ashland Avenue parked and unoccupied. The Honda Accord was recovered and returned to owner on scene. Police investigation into this Honda’s theft continues.

Due to LoJack the owner of a Honda Accord had his vehicle recovered shortly after it was taken undamaged, before it could be stripped, cloned, re-tagged or used in a crime.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Accord in August 2009 at Landmark Honda in Alexandria, Virginia.
