The owner of a 2015 BMW 428i contacted the Baltimore City Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their home during an overnight residential burglary in the 500 block Lucia Avenue in Baltimore City.  The Baltimore City PD Radio dispatched an officer from the 8th District to investigate the incident. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the complainant and surveyed the area for the BMW. When the officer was unable to locate the BMW a stolen vehicle report was prepared. The officer then arranged for the stolen vehicle information to be entered into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW 428i.

A short while later, officers from the Baltimore City PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW 428i with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and helicopters. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the BMW to the area of the Unit block S Collington Avenue in the Butchers Hill area of Baltimore City. At this location officers located the BMW parked and unoccupied. The undamaged BMW was then towed by police for forensic processing and the owner notified.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2015 BMW 428i in March 2015 at BMW of Catonsville in Maryland.
