The owners of a Honda Accord contacted the Avondale Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen with the keys during a strong arm robbery.  The suspect forcibly took the keys, cellphone and cash from the victim and then stole the Honda.

The Avondale PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Eight minutes later, officers from the Phoenix Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC the officers tracked the Honda to the area of 43rd Avenue and Indian School Road in Phoenix.

The suspect and Honda were located approximately ten miles from the theft location.  The suspect was found with the Honda and detained without incident.  The suspect was in possession of the other items taken from the victim.  Detectives from the Avondale PD responded to the recovery location and took custody of the suspect.  The suspect was booked for the vehicle theft and other felony charges.  The Honda was recovered in good condition and returned to the owner.

This is the second time in four months that this Honda Accord was stolen, tracked and recovered by the use of the LoJack® System.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Accord in January 2000 at Showcase Honda in Phoenix, Arizona.
