The owner of a 2011 Chevrolet Aveo discovered their car missing from the 2100 block of SW 6th Street. The owner contacted the Miami Police Department to report their Chevrolet stolen. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report, theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime information computers, which automatically activates the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

The next morning an Auto Theft Task Force investigator picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Aveo’s transponder on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC), that are installed in law enforcement patrol vehicles, helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. The investigator began tracking the stolen Chevrolet by following the directional and audible cues on their PTC’s screen. The investigator, along with their backup the Miami PD, located the 4-door sedan abandoned parked in the 1100 block SW 5th Street. The Chevrolet was recovered, towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping and removed from state and federal crime information computer systems by the entering agency.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2011 Chevrolet Aveo in April 2011 at Maroone Chevrolet of Miami in Florida.
