The owners of a 2003 Hyundai Sonata contacted the Kendall County Sheriff’s Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their residence.  The Kendall County SD personnel verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Hyundai Sonata.

Later an officer from the San Antonio Police Department auto theft task force picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Hyundai with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. The strongest signal was in the area of I-10 at Crossroads Blvd. The officer notified the SAPD aircraft EAGLE 1 which joined in the track. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, EAGLE 1 and patrol officers from Eastside Patrol Division tracked the Hyundai to the parking lot of a motel near I-10. Officers set up a surveillance of the Hyundai while one officer viewed the surveillance video of the parking lot. Officers identified and broadcast a description of the suspects. Only a few minutes passed before the suspects who matched those descriptions were observed trying to leave the parking lot in another vehicle.  They were immediately detained without incident.  Number one suspect was searched and found to be in possession of approximately .5 gm of Meth in his pocket along with the keys to the stolen Hyundai.  Suspect number two was wanted on a Felony warrant for Possession of Controlled Substance. Suspect three was found to have an active warrant for Contempt of Court in Kerrville, Texas.  The suspects were booked for listed charges and the recovered stolen Hyundai was stored at the SAPD Police Pound after being processed for evidence.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Hyundai Sonata in October 2009 at Huggins Honda in North Richland Hills, Texas.
