The owners of a towing company contacted the Denver Police Department to report that a vehicle that had been in their secured storage yard had been stolen after the lot had been broken into.  The vehicle was a 2005 Honda Pilot that had been impounded on a private tow.

The theft was discovered in the early evening on a Thursday.  A Denver PD officer verified the theft and had the vehicle information entered into the state and federal crime computers.  This routine action on the part of law enforcement automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

The next morning a deputy with the Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office picked up the silent LoJack signal coming from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) installed in his patrol vehicle.  However, the signal was lost as the stolen Honda had departed from the area of Central City prior to being located.

The following day an agent with the Lakewood Police Department picked up the LoJack signal from the stolen Honda and tracked it to the 800 block of South Van Gordon Street in Lakewood.  The Honda was unoccupied and was towed and placed on a hold for further investigation by the Denver PD.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Pilot in September 2009 at Spring Branch Honda in Houston, Texas.
