The owner of a Land Rover Freelander contacted the Englewood Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen after having mistakenly left his keys in a coffee shop in the 5000 block of South Broadway.

A police officer responded and took a theft report after verifying the auto theft.  The vehicle information was entered into the state and federal crime computers and this normal routine action on the part of law enforcement automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Land Rover.

Later officers with the Denver Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal coming from the stolen SUV with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.

Following the directional and audible cues from the PTCs, these officers tracked the Land Rover to the 3800 block of North Quebec Street where they found the vehicle abandoned by the thief.  The Land Rover was towed for safekeeping to be returned to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Land Rover Freelander in November 2008 at the request of a previous owner of the vehicle.
