The owners of a used car lot contacted the Mesa Police Department to report that a 2008 Nissan Armada had been fraudulently purchased.  The suspect never made payments on the Nissan and could not be located.

The Mesa PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan.

Four minutes later, officers from the Mesa PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Nissan to the area of Country Club Avenue and the US 60, in Mesa.

The stolen Nissan was found unoccupied and parked at a hotel.  The suspect could not be located at the hotel or in the area.  The used car dealership was contacted and sent a tow truck to retrieve the Nissan.  The Nissan was recovered in good condition and released to the dealership.  Auto theft detectives from Mesa PD are conducting further investigation with charges pending.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Nissan Armada in July 2008 at ABC Nissan in Phoenix, Arizona.
