The owner of a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu contacted the Cleveland Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen.  The owner had just parked his Chevrolet on the street outside his residence and was exiting it when two unknown males approached him.  One of the males told him that they have a gun and to give them the keys to the vehicle.  The owner complied and the suspects entered the Chevrolet and then sped off.

The Cleveland PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

A short while later detectives from the Cleveland PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC the detectives believed the Chevrolet was mobile.  The detectives tracked the Chevrolet to a residential area of Cleveland.  It appeared that the suspects had just parked the Chevrolet there to “cool off.”

Surveillance was established and after some time the stolen Chevrolet was impounded for processing.  Because of the quick recovery the suspects did not have enough time to strip the Chevrolet or use it to commit additional crimes.  The stolen Chevrolet was later returned to the owner.  This is to be further investigated by the Cleveland PD Second District Detective Bureau.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Malibu in May 2015 at Enterprise Car Sales in Cleveland, Ohio.
