The owner of a 1995 Honda Accord contacted the Chicago Park Police Department to report that someone had stolen his vehicle from the 6500 block of South Oakley Ave in Chicago’s West Engelwood neighborhood when he had left it running on the street.  The Chicago Park PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Within minutes of the Honda being activated the Chicago Police Department units from the Engelwood District equipped with LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) picked up the silent and directional signal being broadcast from the stolen Accord. The Chicago PD following the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda located the stolen Accord on the 6100 block of S Seeley Ave blocks away from where it was reported stolen parked and unoccupied. The Accord was recovered by the Chicago PD and returned to the owner on scene within an hour of it being reported stolen.

Due to LoJack the owner of this Honda Accord had his vehicle recovered minutes after it was entered as stolen. The Accord was recovered undamaged, before it could be stripped, or used in a crime. The owner stated he was very grateful as the Accord was his only transportation and he needed it for work.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Accord over twenty years ago at Carrs Honda in Chicago, Illinois.
