The owner of a 2004 Toyota Sequoia contacted the California Highway Patrol to report that their vehicle had been stolen from their residence in the unincorporated area of Santa Cruz County.  The victim stated the vehicle was possibly taken by a relative without permission, as a spare key was discovered to be missing.

The California Highway Patrol verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota Sequoia.

A short time later, officers from Santa Cruz Police Department were directed to the stolen vehicle by the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota Sequoia with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) which are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the stolen Toyota Sequoia to a parking lot behind a business in the 500 block of Seabright Avenue, where they found the vehicle parked with a subject in the driver’s seat.  The subject, who was confirmed to be the relative of the owner, was taken into custody for the theft of the vehicle and also outstanding felony warrants.

The vehicle was recovered and released to the owner at the scene.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Sequoia in April 2009, at Mass Brothers Toyota, in Moreno Valley, CA.
