The owner of a 2007 Honda CBR-1000 motorcycle parked, locked and covered their motorcycle in the garage of their apartment house. When they returned the next afternoon to where they parked the motorcycle, they discovered it missing. They contacted the Miami Beach Police Department to report their Honda stolen. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report, theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime information computers.

Later that evening, while on routine patrol, a Miami-Dade Police Department officer picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC). The officer began tracking the stolen Honda by following the directional and audible cues on the PTC screen. The officer, along with their backup, located the motorcycle’s LoJack signal broadcasting from a house in the 14400 block of SW 252nd Street. The officers made contact with the owner of the home who advised the officers that the motorcycle was someone else’s who lived at the house. While the officers were interviewing the home owner, the other occupant arrived. At that time the occupant was transported to the MDPD South District headquarters for further processing. The motorcycle was recovered, towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping, and removed from state and federal crime information computer systems.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2007 Honda CBR-1000 motorcycle in November 2007 at Rick Case Cycles in Davie, Florida.
