The owner of a 2006 Yamaha YZF-R6 motorcycle contacted the Broward County Sheriff’s Office to report their vehicle stolen. The responding deputy prepared a stolen vehicle report, theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime information computers.

Later that afternoon, while on routine patrol, a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office captain picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen YZF-R6 motorcycle on the on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC). The captain began tracking the stolen motorcycle by following the directional and audible cues on the PTC screen. The captain, along with their backup, located the motorcycle in the 10000 block of Boynton Place Circle. Next to the motorcycle was another motorcycle which was also stolen out of Broward County. Parked next to the motorcycles was a 2002 Dodge Caravan that was reported stolen out of Palm Beach County.  All the vehicles were recovered, towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping and removed from state and federal crime information computer systems.

It should be noted that this was the fourth time that this motorcycle had been stolen and recovered with the LoJack® System. The first time was in July 2006 from Sunny Isles Beach, where it was tracked by the Florida Highway Patrol, Coral Gables Police Department, Miami-Dade Police Department, Miami Police Department, Hialeah Police Department and recovered by Miami PD. The second time was in November 2006 from Sunny Isles Beach, tracked by Miami Beach PD, Hialeah Gardens PD, Florida Highway Patrol and recovered in Hialeah. The third time was in December 2015 from Sunny Isles Beach again, tracked by Medley PD, Hialeah Gardens PD and recovered in Hialeah.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2006 Yamaha YZF-R6 motorcycle in December 2005 at N Miami Motorsports LLC in Miami, Florida.
