The owner of a 2006 Kawasaki ZX1000 motorcycle reported an auto theft to the Newport News Police Department, Virginia. The Newport News PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle’s information into the state and federal crime computers.  The entry automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Kawasaki.

a deputy of the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office, North Carolina, was on patrol when he picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Kawasaki with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer tracked the Kawasaki to a motorcycle repair shop within his assigned patrol area.  After locating the Kawasaki, the officer conducted the initial investigation and determined that the Kawasaki’s Vehicle Identification Number had been altered; identifying labels removed and had been painted to prevent identification.  Based on the altered VIN and the LoJack hit, the Kawasaki was recovered and turned over to the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles Fraud and Theft Bureau for further investigation.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Kawasaki in January 2007 at South Bay Motorsports in Chula Vista, California.
