The owners of a 2011 Yamaha motorcycle contacted the San Antonio Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their residence.  The San Antonio PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Yamaha.

Later a San Antonio PD helicopter (Blue Eagle) picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Yamaha motorcycle with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Yamaha to a residential area where they observed a stolen motorcycle parked in the front of a residence. From the front yard they could see three additional motorcycles and motorcycle parts in the backyard.  The stolen motorcycle was not visible, but the signal indicated it was on the property.  Officers knocked on the front door and it was answered by a female, as officers could smell the odor of marijuana coming from inside the home.  Officers detained the female and conducted a protective sweep of the home where a male subject was found inside a back bedroom. At this time officers exited the home and secured a search warrant for the home and all outside buildings.

Inside the back detached shed officers would find three more stolen motorcycles, including the Yamaha of which were already in the process of being stripped.  Both subjects were transported to the Vehicle Crimes Office for interrogations.  The female subject refused to speak with police.  The male subject admitted to knowing of the stolen motorcycles, was the “Middle Man” and would strip and resell the parts and stolen motorcycles with the assistance of the female.  Inside the home 115 grams (4.3 oz.) of marijuana was found and that charge will be handled by the SAPD Narcotics Unit.  Both subjects were transported to the detention center and charged with Theft $30,000 – $150,000.
