The owner of a 2007 Yamaha YZFR6 discovered their motorcycle missing. They contacted the Orange County Sheriff’s Office to report their vehicle stolen. The responding deputy prepared a stolen vehicle report, theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime information computers.

Within minutes of activation, while on routine patrol, a Medley Police Department officer picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen YZFR6 motorcycle on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC). The officer began tracking the stolen Yamaha by following the directional and audible cues on the PTC screen. The officer followed the signal into a mobile home park in Hialeah Gardens. The officer, along with their backup Hialeah Gardens Police Department, located the motorcycle being driven within the park. The officers performed a “felony stop” on the motorcycle and apprehended the driver. The rider was arrested for Grand Theft Auto. The motorcycle was recovered with ignition damage from a previous theft, towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping, and removed from state and federal crime information computer systems.

It should be noted that this is the third time this motorcycle was stolen. The last time it was stolen was just the day before when it was recovered by the Florida Highway Patrol in Orlando. The time before that was in July 2011. All three thefts were successfully tracked, located and recovered with the use of the LoJack® System.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2007 Yamaha YZFR6 in February 2007 at Orlando Yamaha in Florida.
