The owners of a 2015 Toyota Corolla contacted the Harris County Sheriff’s Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their residential driveway sometimes during the previous night.

The Harris County SD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

A short while later the Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter unit 102 picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. As the aircrew neared the area north of IH-10 and West Sam Houston Beltway they began to obtain a strong signal. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the crew located the Toyota in an apartment parking lot located at Shadow Oaks Drive and Shadowdale Drive. The aircrew relayed the location to the ground deputies at which time they responded and took possession of the stolen Toyota. The Toyota was processed for evidence and stored pending notification of the owner. The Toyota sustained minor damage and no suspects have been identified in this case.
