The owners of a 2003 Yamaha YZF-R6 motorcycle were alarmed to discover that during the night someone had broken into their garage and among other things had stolen their Yamaha motorcycle that they had purchased brand new 13-years earlier.  They contacted the Pueblo Sheriff’s Office and a deputy responded and investigated the crimes.  One of his first actions was to enter the motorcycle into the state and federal crime computers.  This routine action automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Yamaha.

Less than 30 minutes later officers and deputies with Pueblo law enforcement agencies were picking up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Yamaha with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.

Following the directional and audible cues from the PTCs, the officers and deputies tracked and located the motorcycle several times as the thief drove recklessly around Pueblo in an attempt to elude capture.  In each case high-speed pursuits were avoided as the officers did not need to chase the suspect because wherever he went they would find him again.  The suspect at one point was seen by officers and identified as a known habitual criminal.  This subject is currently wanted on five felony warrants for other crimes previously committed and his failure to appear at scheduled court appearance.

Later the motorcycle was tracked and recovered where the thief had abandoned it in the 700 block of Moffat Street in Pueblo.  The investigation regarding the burglary and auto theft is continuing.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Yamaha YZF-R6 in February 2003 at Libby’s Sales and Service Inc. in New Haven, Connecticut, for these owners.
