The owner of a 2007 Suzuki GSX-R600 contacted the Saint Joseph County Sherriff’s Department to report his Suzuki motorcycle stolen from his garage. The Saint Joseph SO verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Suzuki.

A vehicle equipped with a LoJack Police Tracking Computer picked up the silent and directional signal being broadcast from the LoJack unit concealed within the stolen Suzuki. Following the silent and directional signal being broadcast, the stolen Suzuki was discovered in an open garage on the 1600 block of Morton Ave in Elkhart, Indiana. The motorcycle, which had been orange and black at time of steal, had been painted a powder blue. The plates on the motorcycle recovered on scene were the plates on the motorcycle when stolen.

The Elkhart PD responded to the scene and after verifying the motorcycle as being stolen through its vehicle identification number (VIN) recovered the motorcycle and processed it on scene. Recovered next to the motorcycle were masking tape and a can of powder blue spray paint. A resident of the house came out and told the police she had never seen that motorcycle before but had seen her step father driving an orange and black motorcycle the day before. The motorcycle was recovered and returned to a grateful owner. Police investigation into the motorcycle’s theft and recovery continues.
