The owner of a 2003 Infiniti FX35 contacted the Chicago Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen from in front of his residence on the 6500 block of S Ellis Ave in Chicago’s Woodlawn neighborhood. Officers from the Chicago PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Infiniti.

Early the next morning officers from the Kankakee Police Department picked up the audible and directional cues being broadcast from the stolen Infiniti with the LoJack Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC the Kankakee PD tracked the stolen Infiniti to the 800 block of Prospect Avenue in Kankakee sixty miles from where it was stolen. The stolen Infiniti was recovered unoccupied. The recovering officer spoke to a citizen on scene and was able to recover information to assist in the investigation into this vehicle theft.

Due to the LoJack® System installed in this 2003 Infiniti FX35 it was recovered undamaged and returned to a grateful owner before it could be stripped, cloned, re-tagged, or used in a crime.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Infiniti FX35 in March 2003 at Discover Infiniti in San Diego, California.
