The owners of a 2009 Honda CBR 600 motorcycle contacted the Harris County Sheriff’s Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their apartment complex during the overnight period.
The Harris County SD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda motorcycle.
A short while later officers from the Houston Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda motorcycle with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the signal to a residence in the 7800 block of Hamlet in Houston. Unable to observe the motorcycle officers called for a Hand Held Tracker to come and verify the unit was inside the house. After verification officers obtained a search warrant and entered the home which was not occupied. The motorcycle was located in the front bedroom. Officers identified the person in charge of the home and are filing felony theft charges.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda CBR600 motorcycle in May 2009 at Sun Enterprises in Thornton, Colorado.
