LoJack® System Helps Salt Lake City Police Department Recover Stolen Nissan Altima

The owners of a Nissan Altima contacted the West Valley Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen.

A police officer verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan.

A short while later the first of several officers from three law enforcement agencies (Utah Highway Patrol, Salt Lake City Police Department and West Jordan Police Department) began picking up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.

Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, an officer with the Salt Lake City PD tracked the Nissan to a four-story parking garage in the city of Sandy, Utah. The officer was able to quickly locate the concealment location of the stolen Nissan on the second level of the garage, backed-in with the license plate removed.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Nissan Altima in 2008 at CarMax #7157 in Henderson, Nevada.
