The owner of a concrete company reported that someone had stolen his Bobcat and trailer from a job site.

The Gwinnett County Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computer which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Bobcat and the 18ft trailer.

A short while later the Clayton County Police Department Helicopter on routine patrol began to receive a LoJack signal coming from the stolen Bobcat. The pilot tracked the signal to a rural part of DeKalb County and spotted the Bobcat hidden in a wooded area behind a home.  The Clayton County PD Helicopter Unit called the DeKalb County PD to assist in locating the Bobcat due to the location of the property area.

After the DeKalb County PD officers arrived on scene, the stolen Bobcat was located with the stolen trailer along with a large number of other stolen vehicles. A DeKalb County PD detective was called to the scene after discovering a large amount of vehicle and automobile parts covering about 10 acres of land.

After a search warrant was obtained for the location the detectives thought that the owner had been involved in chopping stolen vehicles over several years.  The owner was arrested for running a Chop Shop, theft by receiving and other charges and transported to the County Jail.

The owner was contacted that his stolen equipment was recovered and was returned to him in excellent condition.

Items (parts) or vehicles recovered were a stolen Ford F-350, stolen John Deer Skid steer, two stolen trailers and several vehicle parts.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Bobcat in January 2014 by the owner’s request.
