The owners of a 2010 Caterpillar backhoe contacted the Houston Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their construction site sometime during the overnight period.
The Houston PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Caterpillar.

A short while later officers from the Houston PD, Major Offenders squad, picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Caterpillar with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Caterpillar to vacant lot at 10900 Hirsch Road in Northeast Houston. The grateful owner was notified and the Caterpillar released into his custody. No suspects and only minor damage to the backhoe.
