The owner of a Toyota Prius contacted the Fresno Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen. The Fresno PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

About 15 minutes after the LoJack was activated, a deputy from the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputy tracked the Toyota to a residential area near Iowa and Barton Avenues in southeast Fresno. The Toyota was found unoccupied and abandoned on the side of the road.

The Toyota was recovered intact and undamaged; it was released to the owner at the recovery scene.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Prius in June 2015 at Toyota of Clovis in California.
