The owner of a 2015 Mazda 6 called the Albuquerque Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen while it was warming up in the area of 11th Street and Mountain.

The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mazda.

Within five minutes of the activation, officers and detectives with the Albuquerque Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mazda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and undercover vehicles.  Following the audible and directional cues from the PTC, the detectives and officers tracked the Mazda to a residential neighborhood, found it unoccupied and parked along the roadway in the area of Bellamah and 6th Street.  The Mazda was recovered and processed for evidence at the scene.  The owner responded to the scene to take possession of the Mazda.  The owner stated he was very surprised and thankful at how quickly the Mazda was recovered.
