The owners of a 2002 Volkswagen GTI contacted the New Orleans Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from in front of the residence in the Central City area of New Orleans. The owner stated that around 9pm the VW was parked and secured. The following morning they discovered it was stolen during the night.
The New Orleans PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the VW.

A short while later troopers from the Louisiana State Police picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Volkswagen with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the VW and found it parked on the city street in the St. Iberville area of the city.

The owner was contacted by the troopers and advised them their Volkswagen GTI had been recovered quickly in great shape via LoJack. The owners met the troopers a short while later and were reunited with their Volkswagen.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Volkswagen GTI in October 2002 at Quirk Mazda Volkswagen in Braintree, Massachusetts.
