The owner of a 2002 BMW 325 contacted the Albuquerque Police Department to report the vehicle was stolen. The owner stated an acquaintance staying with her took the BMW without permission while at an apartment in the area of Eubank and Menaul in the Foothills Area Command. The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.

Within a short time of the activation, Detectives with the Albuquerque PD Auto Theft unit picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol and undercover vehicles. Following the audible and directional cues from the PTC, the Detectives tracked the stolen BMW to the area of Louisiana and Central in the Southeast Area Command where it was found parked and unoccupied. The BMW was processed for evidence and will be released to the owner at a later time. This was the fourth time this BMW has been reported stolen, tracked and recovered by law enforcement using the LoJack PTC.

The LoJack® System was installed in the BMW 325 in August 2002 by BMW of North Scottsdale in Phoenix, Arizona.
