The owner of a 2005 Ford F-250 pickup truck stopped at a restaurant for dinner at a Largo restaurant. When they left the restaurant, they discovered their pickup truck missing. They contacted the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office to report that their truck was stolen. The responding deputy prepared a stolen vehicle report, theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime information computers.

Immediately upon activation, a Florida Highway Patrol trooper picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen F-250 on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC). The trooper began tracking the stolen F-250 by following the directional and audible cues on the PTC screen. The trooper, along with their backup, located the F-250 near West 16th Avenue and 31st Place. They checked the video tapes of the various cameras in the area and determined who was driving the stolen pickup truck. The troopers then visited a local business and identified the subject from the camera. The suspect was arrested along with an accomplice. The pickup truck was recovered, towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping, and removed from state and federal crime information computer systems.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2005 Ford F-250 in July 2005 by Don Reid Ford in Maitland, Florida.
