The owners of a 2015 Hyundai Veloster contacted the San Bernardino Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.

The SBPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Hyundai.

A short time later, patrol officers from the Upland Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Hyundai with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Hyundai to the area of Foothill Blvd and San Antonia Street. The Hyundai was located in a parking lot and had been abandoned by the suspect.

The Hyundai was impounded for safe keeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Hyundai in April 2015 by Riverside Metro Auto Group in California.
