The owners of a 2007 Kia Rio contacted the Aurora Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen.

The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Kia.

Just minutes later officers with the Aurora PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Kia with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Kia to the area of Toledo and Vaughn streets where the vehicle was found abandoned.  Local witnesses have given the police some information that might identify the suspect.  The investigation is continuing.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Kia Rio in October 2008 by Colorado Springs Dodge.
