The owners of a 2001 Ford F350 pickup contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen sometime overnight from the driveway of their residence.

The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

Fifteen minutes later officers from the Phoenix PD and troopers from the Arizona Highway Patrol picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers and troopers tracked the Ford to the area of Interstate 17 and Cactus Road in Phoenix.

The Ford was occupied when first observed and followed by the marked Highway Patrol trooper.  While waiting for additional police units to attempt a traffic stop, the driver of the Ford pickup noticed the police and was able to evade them in traffic.  The driver pulled into a strip mall and bailed out on foot.  The suspect/driver was able to get out of the area and was not located.  The Ford was recovered by Phoenix PD and processed for evidence.  The Ford was released to the owners at the scene with minor damage to the ignition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford F350 in June 2004 in Phoenix, Arizona, through Direct Sales.
