The owners of a Honda Accord contacted the West Covina Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.  Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Within 20 minutes, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Flight Deputies in Air-7picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, they tracked the Honda from Monterey Park finally locating the vehicle travelling on the 10 Freeway near the 605 Freeway. The air crew directed ground units from the East Los Angeles SD station who affected the traffic stop at the Baldwin Park off ramp.  One suspect was taken into custody without further incident and released to the West Covina PD officers who responded.  The suspect was transported back to West Covina PD and booked for the related felony charge of vehicle theft.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Accord in January 1997 by Direct Sales installers.
