The owners of a 2007 BMW 328 contacted the Detroit Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen overnight from their residence.

The Detroit PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.

A short while later detectives from the ACTION Auto Theft Task Force picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the detectives tracked the BMW to a residence in Detroit.

The detectives determined that the signal was coming from a garage.  After obtaining consent from the owner of the residence they found the stolen BMW hidden in the garage where the suspects had begun to remove parts.  The BMW was impounded.  Information was obtained from the residential owner as to a suspect.  Arrests are pending further investigation by ACTION.

The LoJack® System was installed in the BMW 328 in October 2010 by Carmax in Stockbridge, Georgia.
