The owner of a 2011 BMW S1000RR motorcycle contacted the North Miami Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.

The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report, theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime information computers.

A short while later a North Miami PD auto theft detective picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC).  The detective began tracking the stolen BMW by following the directional and audible cues on their PTC screen. The detective was joined in the tracking by officers from the Miami-Dade Police Department. The officers discovered that the signal was coming from the rear of a house in the 1400 block of N.E. 154th Street. Contact was made with the owner of the house and permission was given to the officers to have access to the rear of the house where they located the BMW. The BMW was recovered, towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping and removed from state and federal crime information computer systems.  Apparently the owner was unaware that their motorcycle was equipped with a LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System installed by the original owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2011 BMW S1000RR motorcycle in October 2011 by Bob’s BMW in Jessup, Maryland.
