The owner of a 2006 BMW 750 contacted the Chicago Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from the 2000 block of West 54th Street in Chicago’s New City neighborhood. The owner stated he believes he had lost his keys while he was shopping at the nearby convenience store.   The Chicago PD responded to the scene and after verifying facts as presented entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.

A few hours later officers from the Chicago PD Gresham District picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  The Chicago PD officers tracked the BMW to the 9200 Block of S Peoria in the Washington Heights neighborhood. The BMW was located inside a garage with one held for questioning by police on the scene.

The BMW 750 was recovered in hours after it was reported stolen parked inside a garage. It was recovered undamaged and returned to a grateful owner before it could be stripped, cloned, or used in a crime.

The LoJack® System was installed in the BMW 750 in March of 2008 by Luxury Motors O’Hare in Franklin Park, Illinois.
