The owner of a 2001 Dodge Durango called the Nye County Sheriff’s Department in Pahrump to report his vehicle as stolen.  The owner stated his Dodge was parked behind a casino and when he returned he found the Dodge to be missing.

The Nye County SD verified the vehicle theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Dodge.

Officers from the Las Vegas Metro Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Dodge with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Dodge while it was mobile.  Officers attempted a traffic stop with the stolen Dodge and it failed to stop.  LVMPD helicopter maintained visual surveillance of the stolen Dodge until the driver exited and ran from the vehicle.  A K9 unit caught up with the offender but he refused to comply at which time the K9 made the apprehension.

The Dodge Durango was recovered and returned to the owner.  The owner was so happy that he called LoJack and said he was happy that he purchased the LoJack® System nearly 15 years ago.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Dodge Durango in November 2000 at Hayward Dodge in California.
