The owners of a 2010 Yamaha R6 motorcycle contacted the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office to report that their vehicle was stolen overnight from their apartment complex parking area in Metairie.

The Jefferson Parish SO verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Yamaha.

50 minutes later, officers and troopers from the New Orleans Police Department and the Louisiana State Police picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Yamaha motorcycle with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers & troopers tracked the Yamaha as it was driven in Algiers area of New Orleans near the Crescent City Connection Bridge.

The Louisiana State trooper tracked the Yamaha to a street next to the bridge where it was found abandoned in great shape. The owner was notified and arrived to claim his motorcycle.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Yamaha R6 in January 2011 at RideNow Powersports in Las Vegas, Nevada.
