The owners of a 2001 Mercedes ML320 contacted the Stockton Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen while parked at the rear of their apartment building.

The Stockton PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mercedes.

Just 10 minutes later, officers from the Stockton PD and the San Joaquin Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mercedes with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Mercedes to the area near Ben Holt Dr and Pershing Ave. The officers observed the Mercedes parked and abandoned on the street.

The Mercedes did not sustain any damage, was towed and stored to be released to the owner later.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Mercedes ML320 in January 2002.
