The owner of a 2002 Toyota Camry contacted the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, DC to report that their vehicle was stolen from the 3200 block Pennsylvania Avenue SE while she was outside the Toyota, with the keys in the ignition and the engine running at a service station.

DC Metropolitan PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the 2002 Toyota Camry.

A short while later officers from the Seat Pleasant Police Department in Maryland picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen 2002 Toyota Camry with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Toyota to the Unit block 61st Street NE in Washington, DC. At that location, officers observed the Toyota being operated by the theft suspect. The Toyota was stopped and the suspect arrested. The undamaged Toyota was then recovered and returned to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2002 Toyota Camry in May 2002.
