The owners of a Mercedes S 430 contacted the Greenville Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from a local mall.

The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mercedes.

A short while later deputies from Greenville County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mercedes with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Mercedes to a rural wooded area in the county.

The Mercedes was found undamaged and intact in an area where vehicles are known to be stripped. No suspects were present and the investigation is continuing.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Mercedes S 430 in September, 2007.
