The owners of a 2007 Suzuki GSXR motorcycle contacted the Philadelphia Police to report that their vehicle was stolen from the area of their residence in the eastern section of Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Suzuki motorcycle.

A short while later, an auto theft investigator from Bensalem was in the area of Bristol Borough on an unrelated assignment. The highly trained investigator reported to Bensalem Police Radio that he had picked up the silent LoJack® homing signals from the stolen motorcycle with the LoJack® Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that is installed in the auto theft task force unmarked police vehicle. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the investigator tracked the signal to the area of Third Street in Bristol Borough. The investigator notified Bucks County Police Radio and a sergeant from the Bristol Borough Police Department arrived on location. With the assistance of a plain-clothes narcotics officer, the LoJack signal was isolated to a closed and locked garage onThird Street. The officers asked and were granted permission by the resident of the property to open the garage. Once the garage was open, the officers observed a motorcycle matching the description of the stolen vehicle. A check of the vehicle identification number revealed that this was in fact the stolen motorcycle.

A detective assigned to the Philadelphia Police Major Crimes Auto Squad conferred with the officers on the scene and information was exchanged. The subject motorcycle was confiscated for safekeeping by the Bristol Borough Police Department.

This incident remains under investigation by the Bristol Borough Police Department and the Philadelphia Police Major Crimes Auto Squad.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2007 Suzuki GSXR 600 in May of 2007 at New England Cycle Center in Hartford CT.
