The owner of a 2008 Volkswagen Jetta 4 contacted NYPD, 71st Precinct, Crown Heights Brooklyn to report that his vehicle was stolen from in front of his house.

When the police arrived they took a written report, this information was entered into the state and federal crime computers for reporting stolen vehicles. Once this was done without the owner or the police making any notifications to anyone the LoJack tracking device that was hidden on the stolen Jetta was automatically activated. This activation causes a silent signal to be sent out.

A short while later police officers from the 113th Precinct Anti-Crime Unit picked up the silent signal on their onboard tracking computer that their vehicle was equipped with. This was in the Laurelton section of Queens, confines of the 113th Precinct. They tracked the signal into the next precinct, which was the 105 Precinct. There they found the vehicle parked and occupied on a quiet residential street. They decided to stake the vehicle out. After a short while their patience was rewarded, 3 youths entered the vehicle. The officers immediately boxed them in with the help of other units, thereby avoiding a possibly dangerous chase. The youths were taken into custody without incident. The vehicle was recovered without any damage; further investigation disclosed there was a key in the ignition, possibly the Valet key, which was used to facilitate the theft.

The owner was contacted and he was elated that his vehicle was recovered so quickly, especially in such good condition, and with such no damage. He was extremely glad that he had LoJack installed in his vehicle when he purchased it, because he knew if it wasn’t for LoJack his vehicle may never have been recovered at all.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2008 Volkswagen Jetta at Life Quality Auto of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn NY.
