The owner of a 2014 Toyota Tundra contacted the Fairfield Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. The vehicle was a rental and had been overdue for well over a month.

The Fairfield Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the 2014 Toyota.

Less than an hour later, officers with the Walnut Creek Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to a parking lot in the downtown business district of Walnut Creek.

The vehicle was parked and abandoned and appeared to have been parked at the location for several days. The vehicle appeared intact and did not sustain any damage.

The LoJack System was installed in the 2014 Toyota in April 2014.
