The owners of a BMW X-3 contacted Nassau County’s 1st Precinct to report that their vehicle was stolen while park in front of their residence on King’s Parkway in North Baldwin when an unknown individual broke into their two vehicles and found keys to the BMW inside their other vehicle.

Nassau County PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers (NYSPIN/ NCIC) which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.

A short while later officers from Hempstead PD picked up the silent LoJack® homing signals from the stolen BMW with the LoJack® Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked and located the unoccupied vehicle parked on the 100 block of Linden Ave in Hempstead, NY. Surveillance was setup for several hours with negative results.  The owner was eventually contacted and the undamaged vehicle was returned to a very happy owner who stated: “From now on all our cars will have LoJack.”

The LoJack®System was installed in the BMW X-3 in May 2007.
