The owner of a Mercedes C320 contacted the Orange County SO to report that his vehicle was stolen. He stated he was at the DVD rental kiosk in front of a pharmacy when he was approached by two males carrying handguns. They demanded he give them his car keys and he complied and they drove off in his Mercedes.

The Orange County SO verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the (make of vehicle).

A short while later,  deputies from the Orange County SO K-9 unit picked up the silent LoJack® homing signals from the stolen Mercedes with the LoJack® Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the vehicle to the area of Holden and Orange Avenues in Orange County. They located the Mercedes parked at the end of a dead end street. The Mercedes was not occupied. Detectives from the Robbery Unit were called to the scene and processed the vehicle for evidence. The owner was then contacted and took possession of his car.

The LoJack®System was installed in the Mercedes C320 in July 2001.
