The owners of a Dodge RAM 1500 contacted NYPD’s 32nd precinct to report that their vehicle was stolen while parked near their residence on the 500 block of Lennox Ave. in upper Manhattan.

NYPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers (NYSPIN/ NCIC) which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Dodge pickup.

A short while later, officers assigned to NYPD’s 45th precinct picked up the silent LoJack® homing signals from the stolen Dodge with the LoJack® Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked and located the unoccupied vehicle in a rear parking lot of a public high school on Baychester Avenue in the confines of the 45th precinct in the Bronx. Surveillance was setup for several hours with negative results.  The owner was eventually contacted and the undamaged vehicle was returned to a very happy owner at the recovery location.
The LoJack®System was installed in the Dodge Ram in February 2003.
