This case involves a 2009 Kawasaki ZX100 motorcycle stolen overnight from its owner’s residence in Woodstock, GA. Local law enforcement recovered the bike later that same day, assisted by the LoJack® system that was installed at purchase. Even though the thieves took some unusual precautions to avoid discovery, they weren’t able to ‘foil’ LoJack!

On July 9th, 2014, the Kawasaki’s owner contacted the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the ZX100, which was installed at Cycle City Powersports in Newnan, GA.

A short while later, officers from the Cumming PD picked up the silent homing signal from the stolen motorcycle on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Kawasaki was located in a dense wooded area adjacent to an abandoned house. The thieves had covered the bike in aluminum foil, possibly in an unsuccessful attempt to jam the LoJack signal. Police retrieved the ZX100 and soon returned it to its appreciative owner. The investigation is ongoing.
