This case involves a Jeep Wrangler LL stolen on a recent Sunday from Franklin Park, IL. The LoJack® system that was installed when the SUV was purchased played an integral part in its recovery. Local law enforcement, assisted by LoJack, found the Wrangler in a private residential garage, hidden from view and almost impossible to locate with just a visual search.

On June 25th, 2014, the Jeep’s owner contacted the Franklin Park Police Department to report that their vehicle was stole. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This action automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Wrangler, which was installed at Manhattan Beach Toyota in Manhattan Beach, CA.

A short while later, a Franklin Park PD patrol sergeant picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The sergeant followed the signals to a private home on North Kedvale Avenue. A detective from Chicago Major Auto Theft Investigations (CMATI) arrived on scene and discovered the Jeep hidden in the home’s garage. The Wrangler was retrieved and soon returned to its rightful owner. The investigation is ongoing.
